How Tiempa Works
Does Tiempa host the videos I watch?
No. Every video plays through the official player of the platform where it already lives — YouTube, Dailymotion or the Internet Archive — exactly as it would if you visited that platform yourself. Tiempa never copies, stores or alters a single video. What we do is find the right one for your country, your decade and your memory.
If the videos are free elsewhere, what am I paying for?
You’re paying for the Tiempa experience — not the videos. Your subscription unlocks the decade dial, the country selector, and collections curated for every year from 1940 onwards, plus the work of finding authentic footage so you don’t have to go looking. The videos themselves are free to watch, for everyone, always.
What happens if a video disappears?
Because videos live on other platforms, sometimes an uploader removes one or a platform takes it down. When that happens it stops playing on Tiempa too. Our systems check links regularly and replace the ones that stop working. If you spot a broken or incorrect video, use the flag button beside the player — a real person reviews every flag.
I’m a rights holder. How do I request a removal?
Email copyright@tiempa.com with the name of your work and the Tiempa page where it appears. We don’t host any content, but we will promptly remove the link from our catalogue and confirm once it’s done. Our full process is set out in our Términos de Uso, under “Copyright & Content Takedown Policy”.
Why do some videos have ads?
Ads come from the video platform and the person who uploaded the video — not from Tiempa. Those ads are how platforms and archive owners are paid for sharing their footage, so we never block, skip or change them. Tiempa never shows ads of its own.
Where is my information stored?
Your Tiempa account details are stored on secure servers in Sydney, Australia. We keep only what we need — your email address, the year you were born, and your country — and we never sell your information. You can read the full detail in our Política de Privacidad.
